Specialised Musculoskeletal TherapySpecialised Musculo-Skeletal Therapy is designed to get to the core of any pain, injury, restriction or movement dysfunction you can’t seem to resolve.
Although this form of therapy can provide clients with symptomatic relief, this therapy is designed to get to the heart of a problem so that you can work towards resolving it completely. The outcome of a consultation has clients walk away with an understanding of which muscles are tight and require stretching, which of their muscles are weak and require strengthening, and which areas of their body are restricted and require more mobility to bring their body back into balance, whilst also helping to resolve their pain / injury, and overcoming any physical pathologies, such as disc bulges. Peter often works with a combination of modalities to help restore balance and function, such as cranio-sacral therapy, clinical neuro-muscular therapy, biomesotherapy, neural therapy, prolotherapy, C.H.E.K training, orofacial myology, detox and nutrition, psycho-somatic therapy and the use of functional dental appliances. This form of therapy is unique and works largely from ‘The Survival Totem Pole’, developed by Paul Chek – founder of the C.H.E.K Institute. The Survival Totem Pole is used to help identify where the cause of your pain is originating from. This works in a hierarchical order (from the top being most important for survival) to preserve our vital functions: Here are a few client examples of how the Survival Totem Pole is used:
Note the scoliosis indicated by the red arrows, and the shift to the right within each red circle. The change indicated by the green arrows and circles, from identifying the source, occurred within 1 minute! This client suffered lower back pain, and by simply teaching the correct position of the pelvis, it has taken the stress out of her lower back; and the flat stomach is not from sit ups, crunches or even diet!
Here you can see from the base of the neck up, there is a deviation of the head & neck to the right.
The correction with this client was made by balancing the jaw (TMJ) through manual therapy, and doing cranial work (a rebalancing of the skull bones). AvailabilityPeter van der Sande Lacoste - Monday to Saturday.
