Glutatione is the master intracellular antioxidant protecting our bodies from oxidative stress and free radicals. It also acts as a potent antioxidant and helps the body recycle vitamin C.
Glutathione is found in every part of the body, especially the lungs, intestinal tract, and liver. The body produces and stores the largest amounts of glutathione in the liver, where it is used to detoxify harmful compounds so that they can be removed from the body through the bile.
Glutathione is required for:
- The prevention of oxidative cell damage.
- Detoxification of heavy metals.
- The cell cycle and cell differentiation.
- Immune system function.
