Winter Tips (Food, Fitness)

Wouldn’t it be great to enter spring feeling just as good as you did when it ended?

Weighting for summer can be tedious; but anticipating summer is exhilarating. Here are some quick tips to enjoy winter whilst anticipating summer.

Tips:

  1. Try some soups. Full of nutrition and filling without the 'bulking' up factor like sugary empty calories.
  2. Replace snacks with hot drinks rather than having both.
  3. Walk to keep you warm.  Keep an umbrella handy and plan to go for a brisk walk to get lunch or in an afternoon break.
  4. Try some simple body weight exercises in your lounge room when the weather is wet, cold or windy.
     

Mini Winter Circuit:

Below is a simple circuit you can do in your lounge room. Do each exercise 3 times, the first time complete for 1 minute, 2nd time, 40seconds and 3rd time for 30seconds. This way you will get a cardio workout at the same time as building muscle.

Exercise Image Tips
Pushups

1.  Keep spine in alignment by keeping the head slightly up.
2.  Pull in your stomach muscles to support your back.
3.  Drop to your knees as soon as you feel yourself lose technique.
Crunch

1.  Before starting contract your deep abdominal muscles by drawing belly button to spine.
2.  Breath out on the way up.
3.  Come down from the crunch slowly.
Tricep Dips

1.  Keep shoulder blades back and down.
2.  Take the weight through your triceps not your legs.
Hip Raises 1.  Hold position for 3 seconds at the top.
2.  Contract your bottom muscles and feel the back of the legs working
